Performing “Geek Rock” music that’s completely out of step with the grunge-filled ’90s, the band Beatnik Turtle was easy for Matt to book for Johnson’s Bar since they rehearse in the crappy garage that’s just next door to the apartment.

That and the band had no problem with Johnson’s strict pay-to-play arrangement. Always a plus.
